A HASLEMERE-based musical theatre school is celebrating after its recent success at Godalming Music Festival.

In all, 29 children from Theatre Monkeys Performing Arts School, based at Haslemere Hall, were involved in taking to the stage.

Both groups in the musical theatre class won their their sections with honours. The year six and under group won the Frank and Rose Marshall Cup and the year 11 and under group took home the Ivy Sharp Memorial Trophy.

The young performers so impressed the judges that they were then invited to perform at a prestigious concert for the most talented performers from the festival on Saturday night, where the older group were awarded their trophy by Godalming Mayor David Hunter.

Members of Theatre Monkeys all attend weekly musical theatre classes at the hall where they study singing, dance and drama taught by an experienced team of teachers all with professional theatre credits in West End, touring theatre and film and TV.
