BEACON Hill WI held their 50th birthday celebrations at St Alban’s Church hall.

Along with friends from surrounding WIs, they enjoyed a super evening with good food and drink, and a ‘Get to know you’ quiz.

The branch is a small WI with just 19 members, but they know how to enjoy themselves and go out of their way to make sure everyone else does too.

The beautiful cake, made by one of the members, was cut by the longest-serving member Violet Aitkin, with help from the president Sheila Curling. The evening ended with cake and a glass of fizz.

The president was presented with two bottles of fizz – one liquid and one chocolate, and for once was lost for words.

She thanked the members for her unexpected present and thanked everyone for coming and making it such a wonderful celebration.

Sheila hoped Beacon-Hill WI would still be around to celebrate their 100th birthday, although she wouldn’t be there to organise it.
