A FEMALE motorist had to be cut out of her car and treated for serious leg injuries, after colliding with a road sign on the A3 at Thursley, early on Wednesday morning.

The 41-year-old driver’s yellow Fiat 500 hit the central reservation and span back across the carriageway where it collided with a signpost, just after 5am.

The driver, who was trapped inside her car for two hours, was taken to St George’s Hospital in Tooting with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Fire crews from Haslemere, Liphook, Godalming and Farnham were called to the scene at 5.15am.

Both northbound lanes through Hindhead tunnel were closed until after 8am and the A3 fully re-opened fully after 10am.
