Badshot Lea manager Gavin Smith had mixed emotions after his side drew 2-2 against Metropolitan Police in the Isthmian League South Central Division on Tuesday night.

The Baggies battled from 1-0 down at Westfield Lane to lead 2-1, before conceding a late equaliser.

The visitors took the lead in the 28th minute through Alex Body's fine finish into the bottom right corner.

Kai Allsopp equalised for the Baggies on 49 minutes with a neat finish, and Adam New's 81st-minute penalty looked like it would give the home side the three points.

However, the visitors rallied and Mason Galloway's header on 86 minutes made it 2-2.

"I think we're missing something at the minute," said Smith. "We're having a lot of possession, which is what we want. People might think we're overplaying but it's important we don't turn the ball over needlessly – which can lead to counter attacks – which we did quite a bit in the second half.

"We went one down, which hasn't happened for a while, so we were in territory we haven't been in for a while. The reaction was good, and we scored a good goal.

"The important thing is if we don't win, we don't lose. They've had a go when they've gone 2-1 down and they've thrown a decent ball in the box and it's a great header. That's the difference at this level, so I'm not disappointed with a draw."
