A PERFECT summers day provided the ideal conditions for this years hugely successful Grayswood School’s traditional summer fete.
Held for the first time on the village green and in the school grounds, the fete looks set to raise more than the £2,500 raised last year.
It was hailed a “resounding success” by Nickie McQuillan and her friend Pip Piper from organisers FROGS – The friends of Grayswood CofE Primary School –
They are both parents of children at the school and co-chair the school’s PTA.
Rides, games, fantastic food and drinks all helped create an afternoon of family fun, with shopping stalls manned by local businesses and a fire engine from Surrey Fire and Rescue Service on site for the day.
Mrs McQuillan said: “We wanted it to be a more traditional fete with bouncy castles, a fairground ride and lots of activities for the children. We also wanted the community to be involved which was why we held it on a Sunday. It did feel like a community event.”
Grayswood School becomes an all-through primary in September with around 180 pupils, from reception through to year six – and with recent building works doubling the size of the school, plans are now in place to completely overhaul the playground and provide new equipment.
FROGS is hoping to provide a trimtrail – a piece of playground equipment suitable for children of all ages at the primary.
Other plans include using as much of the school grounds as possible to make it a safer place and putting the area to better use.
