THE latest production by amateur dramatics company The Haslemere Thespians has become mired in controversy after a poster advertising the show was vandalised.

The Thespians are staging The Vagina Monologues from April 30 to May 2 and a publicity poster outside Waitrose was damaged with the word "Vagina" being ripped from it.

The assumption – and certainly the strong opinion within Haslemere Rants on social media site Facebook – is that the perpetrator was offended by the word for female genitalia.
