A children’s writer, timetraveller and ravenous bookworm visited King Edward’s Witley to talk about her new book ‘Black Powder’ and her personal journey to becoming a published author.

Peeps into the Past: Castaway Christmas for Tilford's own Robinson CrusoeFarnham-based Ally Sherrick spent time at the school as part of the Guildford Book Festival and met pupils from the lower school, as well as some children from years six and sevne from Barrow Hills, King Edward’s sister school.
During her inspirational talk, the author spoke about the challenges she faced prior to being accepted by Chicken House, the publishing company of JK Rowling fame.
Pupils were given top tips on different inspirations for writing, how to put a plot together, the length of time it takes and practical guidance on editing and proof reading.
