The weekend kicks off with the band ‘Hissy Fit’ booked to play at the Royal British Legion club, in Beacon Hill Road, on Saturday, June 11.
On Sunday, June 12, members of church congregations from the area will join together at St Alban’s for a special 10.30am service.
Then at 3pm there will be a street party for the whole community. The ‘Bevin Boys’ will provide a variety of live music and guests can also enjoy a Pimms and prosecco marquee, and a tea, coffee and cake stall.
Brian Walshe, a member of the organising committee said: “This is going to be a wonderful opportunity for the whole community to come together to celebrate in a truly British way to honour the Queen’s 90th birthday. Live music, family, friends, food and a Pimms tent - what’s not to like!
“Everyone is invited to dress to celebrate ‘90 years of British Fashion’ and children can win the best crown competition.
“Local businesses, organisations and churches have sponsored what promises to be a great event.”
Tables will be available so everyone is welcome to bring along a picnic and some chairs.
Although free to attend, guests need to register for tables via [email protected].
For those who wish, picnic hampers can be pre-ordered from Thwaites Butchers or the Coffee Lounge.
