THE future of Haslemere Hospital has been thrown into doubt this week after NHS Surrey announced 14 beds closed over the Christmas period will not reopen.
NHS Surrey initially blamed the cuts in the hospital's Godwin Ward on a "need for cleaning and refurbishment". However, it has since emerged the real reason for the closures was financial.
