“URGENT” temporary repair works at Tilford East Bridge got under way last week, meaning the bridge could be closed until August 6.

Sheephatch Lane Bridge has also been closed in order to “protect the bridge and the road surface from excess use while the Tilford Bridge is being repaired”.

David Harmer, Surrey county councillor for Waverley Western Villages, told the Herald that repairs are “urgent” and are “needed now”.

The works come ahead of the main scheme to refurbish the bridge, which has now been deferred until early 2019 and is anticipated to take between four and six months to complete. Find out more at tinyurl.com/y7vfb667.

Between July 23 and August 3, separate works will also be undertaken on the A287 Farnham Road and A287 Frensham Road. Visit roadworks.org for more information.
