A BRING-and-buy sale in aid of Macmillan Cancer support and the Rosemary Foundation raised £125 after a Harvest Festival service at St Peter’s Church, in Lynchmere.

The church had been decorated with flowers and foliage in autumn colours, berries, fruits and vegetables by Mary Biggs’ “Lynchmere Flower Girls”.

“The service was very well attended by a large congregation of about 70 people,” said Mrs Biggs.

“During the first hymn the good number of children processed to give their gifts of food at the altar. Some 30 members of the congregation moved into the churchyard (pictured) for a ‘bring and share’ lunch which was very much enjoyed by all, especially with the warm sun and the beautiful view from the church towards the South Downs.”

A car load of the donated non-perishable food will be taken to the Chichester based charity, Stonepillow, who look after homeless people in the area.
