THERE was a sparkle about the opening of Haslemere Lawn Tennis Club's new £80,000 clubhouse by town mayor Melanie Odell on Monday.

As she carried out the official opening by cutting a ribbon across the entrance, and unveiling a plaque commemorating the event, players and guests sipped Champagne and gathered round to cheer the occasion.
