A SURVEY designed to see whether Alton’s independent cinema has a future has gone online at https://tinyurl.com/2p997u7k
The Save Alton’s Cinema group, which is also running an online petition that has attracted 1,614 signatures, said: “The Palace Cinema has been a feature in Alton for over 100 years, but is currently facing closure, with the site likely to be redeveloped.
“We are exploring whether there is a genuine market for an independent cinema in Alton, and what it would take to create a viable offering.
“We would like to understand your thoughts around local and national cinema and – if it were possible to save and refurbish the cinema – your response to some proposed ideas for updating the offering at the Alton Palace Cinema.”
