IT was celebrations all around at Shottermill Junior School following its latest Ofsted inspection.
After visiting the school at the end of last term, inspector Dylan Davies upheld the ‘good’ rating received on the last inspection in October 2014.
Writing to headteacher Kate Barnes in a report published this week, Mr Davies said: “You lead with a palpable determination to do the right thing for pupils at this school.
“You and other leaders have focused successfully on developing the curriculum and improving teaching and learning.
“As a result, you have created a highly-ambitious culture within which all pupils can succeed. Pupils learn across a rich and varied curriculum.
“The pupils I met proudly shared with me their work in science, history and geography, and eloquently talked about their learning in these subjects.
“You and other leaders have addressed the areas that needed improving at the last inspection well. For example, you have provided appropriate support and worked well to develop middle leadership across mathematics and English.”
Mrs Barnes said: “We are delighted to have secured another ‘good’ rating from Ofsted after its inspection and thrilled to have received such as a glowing report, which praises the quality of the curriculum on offer at the school and highly-ambitious culture where all pupils can succeed.
“The inspector noted pupils are very happy at the school and value their teachers highly and the extra-curricular opportunities they get day to day.
“They feel safe, with very low incidences of bullying.
“Parents and carers are also very supportive of the school and governors work very closely with school leaders to ensure it continues to improve and move forward.
“The whole community is very pleased to have been given recognition for all the hard work which goes into providing an excellent education for all pupils.”
