THE University of Surrey has been ranked the best in the South East in this year’s prestigious Student Experience Survey, compiled by Times Higher Education.
Overall the university was ranked fifth nationally, rising from 26th place last year.
More than 15,000 students from across the UK were asked to rate aspects of their university that contributed either positively or negatively to their overall experience.
Surrey was top for security, an impressive sixth for its industry connections and student welfare, and seventh for facilities and recommending the university to a friend.
Professor Jane Powell said: “I am delighted – the results reflect what we are hearing from our students. They enjoy a high-quality experience here, in relation both to their education, and to broader quality of life issues, including sports and social facilities, support systems and the sense of community here.
“This success is built on close working relationships between staff and students in all areas. We take pride and pleasure in liaising and working closely with student representatives to continuously enhance their experience of studying and living here.”
