A SOLICITOR and family court judge from Wormley has been awarded an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List for his services to international family law. David Hodson a speciliast mediator and family law arbitrator, who sits as a part-time family court judge, was appointed a Deputy District Judge of the Principal Registry of the Family Division, High Court, London, now the Central Family Court, in 1995. He attended the College of Law, now the University of Law in Guildford and now acts as mentor for law students. Over the past 25 years he has informed, explained and educated on the complex yet hugely relevant aspects of international family law to the English legal profession and to many lawyers abroad, from small local groups around England and Wales to keynote speeches at major conferences around the world. Mr Hodson who is also an Australian qualified solicitor and barrister, said: "I am thrilled and humbled." For full story, see this week's Haslemere Herald.
