FARNHAM’S first farmers’ market for 2022 takes place on Sunday, January 23 and promises to be a prime resource for shoppers wanting to embrace a healthy and wholesome diet this year.

The market, which is open from 10am to 1.30pm at Central car park in Farnham, will be jam packed with a great selection of local seasonal produce direct from those that grow it, rear it, make it or bake it.

“Freshly picked, in-season fruit and vegetables are full of vital vitamins, minerals and fibre and are a key ingredient in a healthy, varied diet as are oily fish and lean meat,” said Councillor Pat Evans, lead member for tourism and leisure at Farnham Town Council.

“The range of produce at the farmers’ market is immense so if you are looking to rethink your diet in 2022, this is the place to come.”

Councillor Evans continued: “In December, we said a sad farewell to Anila and Dan from Anila’s Sauces when they began their well earnt retirement. Anila’s Sauces was one of the first producers to start trading at the Farnham market. “Anila has been a very popular stallholder, bringing the flavours of her authentic Indian recipes to Farnham’s residents and we wish her and Dan well. We also look forward to welcoming several traders who are new to Farnham and whose produce I know our shoppers are going to love!”

Matt from Gransfield grows British, hand grown perennials and annuals at his family nursery. Also visiting the market is Crondall based Chuckle Soaps who make vegan and sodium lauryl sulphate-free soap and, Manika from Manika’s Indian Kitchen who lovingly prepares authentic Indian cuisine from samosas to curries and is always on hand to talk about her dishes and to give buyers a little taste.

There will be more than 35 stallholders at the farmers’ market this month selling an excellent range of fresh, organic and seasonal produce, pantry essentials and treats.

As well as high quality fruit, vegetables, meat, fish and poultry, traders bring the best cheeses and dairy produce, baked goods, wines, beers, spirits and juices, sauces and preserves, cereals and luxury items such as chocolates.

Farnham Farmers’ Market is held on the fourth Sunday of the month. Shoppers can expect live music, a charity tea tent and up to 47 stalls.
