FARNHAM Food & Drink Festival will return this September, and promises to be bigger and better than ever before.

With the festival taking over Castle Street and The Borough for the day, the aroma of street food is set to be irresistible to shoppers, many of whom will have missed out on their usual holidays abroad this summer. The festival takes place on Sunday, September 26, opening at 10am and closing at 4pm.

Among the 100-plus stalls, the festival will feature the best of British food and drink traditions, particularly through locally brewed beers, UK cheeses and baked goods. New for this year is a chilli eating competition which promises to be a crowd-pleasing highlight of the festival. Competitors brave enough to participate can enter on the day.

Demonstrations throughout the day, compered by the ever-popular Paul Evers, will give home cooks the chance to learn new techniques or follow a step-by-step guide to new and much-loved recipes.

Councillor Pat Evans, lead member for tourism and events at Farnham Town Council said: "Local foodies missed out last year because of Covid so we have a jam packed list of chefs, restaurateurs, brewers, bakers and local producers itching to share their food, drink, recipes and knowledge with home cooks, shoppers and visitors."
