Following Saturday’s loss to Sheerwater, Sean Birchnall has resigned as first team manager of Farnham Town.

In a statement, the club said: “We accept Sean’s wishes to leave the club after less than five months in charge.

“Farnham Town will always be indebted to Sean after he has given so many years of service to the club, firstly as a player, then as a coach and as of this past summer, occupying the role of first team manager.

“Sean will always be welcomed back to Mead Lane with open arms, and everyone at Farnham Town would like to thank him for his efforts since taking the reins back in June.

“The club will now begin the search for a new manager and will update the fans in due course.”

Farnham are at home to Alton tomorrow (Tuesday) night, kick-off 7.45pm.
