Dementia champion, Right at Home GF, is promoting greater empathy and inclusivity for people living with dementia by hosting a free awareness raising training session.

The 1.5-hour talk is aimed at individuals, staff from local businesses, and community organisations who are interested in expanding their understanding of dementia.

Alastair Shanks, Dementia Friend and managing director at Right at Home GF will be giving the talk at the Farnham Maltings on Friday, November 10 at 11am.

He said: “Dementia affects many people, so the chances are that if your job involves dealing with customers, at some point you are going to encounter somebody who has the condition.

“My dementia awareness session will help anybody who is in a customer facing role to better understand the challenges faced by those living with dementia.

“The session is informative and interactive, and I’ll be passing on lots of practical tips and advice.”

The awareness session will include an overview of dementia, the impact it has on individuals and families, how to communicate and tips on creating dementia-friendly environments.
