Grayshott Concerts organised a special performance by the London Mozart Players to celebrate Grayshott Primary School’s 150th anniversary this summer.

Many of the children had never experienced a classical music performance previously. London Mozart Players were accompanied by narrator Polly Ives and illustrator James Mayhew – who between them brought Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf and Saint-Saen’s Carnival of the Animals to life.

Both pieces were written for children, and the accompanying storytelling and live art ensured the young audience remained captivated throughout.

Grayshott Concerts founder Peter Harrison said: “It’s our birthday present for every child at the school to mark this special occasion.

“When you’re young and hear the best music, it stays with you for the rest of your life.

“We’re delighted to have been able to introduce so many youngsters to the beauty of music.”

Headteacher Richard Austin said: “It was wonderful to have such a famous orchestra perform for us in our school.”

Tickets for Grayshott Concerts’ next event – featuring choral phenomenon Tenebrae – on Friday, July 22 at St Luke’s Church are available to buy online at www.grayshottconcerts.co.uk
