THE first Hammer Bottom Hike raised £4,100 in September for Haslemere-based charity Action for A-T and Liphook charity Pancreatic Cancer Action.
Walkers participating in the Hammer Bottom Charitable Trust event did a 27-mile circuit from Haslemere Town Hall around the local hills.
Trustees Paul Cantoni and Stuart Turner welcomed Haslemere Mayor Melanie Odell to The Prince of Wales pub, in Hammer, to present the cheques to Emily Read, founder trustee of Action for A-T, and to Glynis Lambert and Alan Mignot on behalf of Pancreatic Cancer Action.
A prize of dinner for two at the Three Horseshoes pub at Thursley donated by Susie Shillingford of Action for A-T was awarded to Richard Reincke of Haslemere for raising the most individual sponsorship for the walk.
The next challenge will be in 2017. For more information on Hammer Bottom Charitable Trust and its past challenges go to www.hbct.org.uk.
