PLANS to remove beds from a 150-year-old village hospital in Waverley could leave the borough desperately short of community healthcare facilities, the borough councillor for Haslemere and Grayswood warned last week.

Responding to NHS Surrey's plans for rehabilitation care for the elderly in Surrey, Robert Knowles told a meeting of the full Waverley Borough Council that, although he welcomes plans to retain GP-supported beds at Haslemere Hospital, the permanant closure of beds at Cranleigh Village Hospital would lead to a clear "north-south divide" in Surrey.
