A POPULAR ex-Woolmer Hill pupil has made the news around the world as a teenage hero after risking his life to save a toddler.
Sixteen-year-old Nelson Fonangwan leapt into action after hearing the desperate screams of a neighbour, whose two year-old son was trapped inside their burning home.
The boy's mother, Aneta Jedlikoswka, had injured herself trying to punch a hole in her kitchen window to reach her son, who was frantically knocking on the glass from inside.
Nelson, who was first at the scene, managed to break the window and crawl inside to rescue the toddler and carry him to safety.
