A Haslemere charity has received cash for questions as a quiz night seven years in the making has raised more than £1,000.

Questions were recently asked in Grayshott village hall at the first Hunter Centre Quiz Night since 2019.

The centre’s new chair, Belinda Pope, began by giving participants a warm welcome and reminder of the charity’s aim to support those living with dementia.

And then it was time to get quizzical with MC James Newman pressing for answers from 14 teams during an entertaining evening that included dingbats, a memory-teasing picture challenge and plenty of questions.

Jokers were played, points were totted up and a fish and chip supper by Andy’s of Weyhill went down a treat.

A trophy in memory of late client, John Barlow, was also awarded to the winning team, Quizabelles, captained by the centre’s very own, Kate Bradford.

“Thank you so much to those local companies who donated so kindly to the raffle and to all the quizzers for their generous support,” said Elaine Clement, before thanking James for his “magnificent performance” and everyone else who made the evening possible.
