A FREE ‘BioBlitz’ day of discovery mounted at Lynchmere Common by South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA) was enjoyed by more than 100 nature lovers.

The event, which included sesions on flora and fauna led by experts, was part of the Heritage Lottery Funded project Heathlands Reunited.

SDNPA Heathlands Reunited assistant Freya Thorpe, said: “The Bioblitz was a fantastic success with more than 100 adults and children joining us throughout the day.

“It was a great opportunity to engage with families who were discovering their local heathland at Lynchmere Common for the first time and encourage them to come back again to enjoy the wide variety of rare creatures and wildlife that live on these precious sites in the national park,” Freya added.
