Britpop veterans My Life Story will play Aldershot’s West End Centre on April 5 at 8pm.

This is on the back of a new single called Running Out Of Heartbeats, mixed by Ben Hillier who produced the Depeche Mode albums Playing The Angel, Sounds Of The Universe and Delta Machine. The track is an exhilarating, electronica-skewered anthem which pulses and whirrs with a kindred mechanised groove and futuristic sheen.

Chief songwriter Jake Shillingford was theorising on how love, life and how we live it could be playing with our human hearts and our overall longevity.

He said: “On returning from the Moon and on his withdrawal from public life, Neil Armstrong allegedly said ‘I believe every human has a finite number of heartbeats. I don’t intend to waste any of mine’. Finite heartbeat theory suggests we get roughly 2.5 billion beats throughout our lives.

“I wanted to explore if we can put a value on each heartbeat. Do we lose more through the palpitations of love, or leading a dynamic life? Or are we wasting our heartbeats by taking the easy life?”
