SHOTTERMILL Infant School pupils are getting a kick out of their new Kinsa Judo Club, run by current European champion, British champion and Bronze world medallist Fiona Chan.
School football sessions also got a big boost, following head PE teacher Claire Beckerson’s successful application for the Premier League Primary Stars kit and equipment pack, containing Nike match footballs, training bibs and numbered and lettered floor markers.
The scheme is part of the Premier League education programme, which uses professional football clubs to inspire pupils at primary schools across England and Wales to be active and develop important life skills.
Richard Scudamore, executive chairman of the Premier League, said: “The Primary Stars kit and equipment packs provide a fantastic boost to schools at the start of the new school year.
“We hope that coupled with the free downloadable online resources, we can inspire children to do their best in the classroom and on the sports field.”
Shottermill headteacher Jilly Storey, told The Herald: “We have 22 children attending the after school judo club and they are really enjoying it.
“They love to be physically active, learn new skills and try out a range of sports.”
“The new club and Primary Stars football equipment adds to the excellent sporting opportunities and resources we can offer for sports at Shottermill Infant School.”
