A PILLAR of Wey Hill celebrated its brand new look at a packed preview party on Monday night attended by the mayors of Waverley and Godalming, as well as present and past mayors of Haslemere.

Alan Baker, owner of Haslemere’s flagship store Silkroad Interiors and Flooring, launched his new showroom following a major revamp.

Waverley Mayor Chris Storey cut the ribbon to the new premises, where Haslemere Mayor Sahran Abeysundara works as the chief interior designer.

“I have already had very good feedback,” Mr Baker said. “The opening party was bursting at the seams.

“My father Maurice first opened a business in Wey Hill in 1947, and Alan Baker Flooring launched 20 years ago.

“We have emerged from a cocoon to spread our wings as Silkroad and I really believe it will excite and inspire. Sahran has spent a lot of time and effort improving it.

“We are delighted with our new-look store, which gives us more space and combines the best of Alan Baker Flooring and the best of the Silkroad to create a cohesive interiors and flooring service for clients,” Mr Baker told The Herald.
