IN these troubled times, some good news.
I am delighted to say the trustees of the Resurrection Furniture shop in Alton High Street have made donations for the first time since opening nearly three years ago.
We have given £6,000 to the Kings Arms Youth Project to support the fitting out of the youth hub at the Tannery on Vicarage Hill in Alton.
The Youth Centre will provide a safe place for young people aged 11 to 18 to meet up and take part in a variety of activities, or just have access to experienced youth workers for a chat.
Secondly, we have given £5,000 to the Parish of the Resurrection, Alton, to help keep our historic church buildings open for worship and community use.
We are delighted to be able to make these substantial donations for the first time all thanks to the hard work of all our volunteers and trustees, who are making the shop such a success.
One of our charitable objectives is to support youth work in the town, so it is fitting we can help the Kings Arms in this way.
Unfortunately, because of the coronavirus we have had to temporarily close the shop but we are using the time positively so that we are ready for business after the lockdown.
We know there will be even more pressure on people’s pockets and we expect our furniture will be very much in demand.
It’s tough for all high-street traders at the moment. Our very best wishes to them all.
