MOORLANDS Lodge dementia care manager Lynne Vallender received a well-deserved Christmas present when she won was the Umbrella Commercial Interiors Carer of the Year Award 2015.

Lynne joined the Hindhead care home after training as a nurse and spent many years working with people with chronic neurological conditions.

Her specific interest in traumatic brain injury and altered states of consciousness has been the focus of her work for 23 years.

Moorlands Lodge client liaison officer Wendy Westbury nominated Lynne.

She said everyone at the care home is very proud to be able to work with her, and that she ensures each and every resident under her care has the attention to detail they need to continue to lead fulfilling and meaningful lives, despite their dementia diagnosis.

To thank Lynne for her dedication, selflessness, sensitivity and hard work, she was presented with a Fortnum and Mason Christmas Hamper.“

Umbrella sales director Lucy Bennett said: “Nominations for the Carer of the Year flooded in.

“We were inundated.

“The care community is full of amazing people who love their jobs and work so hard to bring the residents happiness.

“It was so difficult to choose one winner, but Lynne seemed to shine out.”
