PUPILS from primary and junior schools far and wide jumped at the chance to compete in St Edmund’s annual U11 football tournament last Thursday.
St Edmund’s provided loyal supporters with cups of hot chocolate as they cheered their teams on across three of the school’s pitches.
A league system was implemented to ensure all the teams played each other, and students from Godalming College volunteered their services to referee the matches. The winners were Busbridge Junior School, with Liss Juniors coming a very close second, with only one less point.
St Edmund’s deputy head Richard Taylor said: “I have witnessed some great skill out on the field this afternoon and I have no doubt we will be seeing a selection of you play at Wembley in years to come.”
