MORE than 100 motor sports fans turned out for a film night that raised £1,000 for town-based charity, Action for A-T, at Haslemere Hall.
A Fraser Nash Targa Florio replica and a D-type Jaguar, from the Robert Lewis collection, were parked outside the hall to add a bit of colour during the screening of ‘Pistons, Passions and Pleasures – a Sicilian Dream’ about the Targa Florio road race.
Dave Biggins, the film’s producer, entertained the audience with stories about how it came to be made and its production, while John Markey, of H&H Classics, recounted his experiences as a Targa driver at the end of the 1960s.
Event organiser Martin Coakley said: “My thanks go to all who supported the event, including fellow sponsor Thomas Brimblecombe, of Classic Grand Touring, who is planning ‘a Targa Tour’ next year, for those who like classic cars to be driven and not just looked at in dusty museums,”
“Many thanks also to Howard Bicknell and all at the Haslemere Hall for supporting the event and helping me indulge my wish to see motor sports on the big screen.”
