WWII veteran Reg Day, who served at Dunsfold Aerodrome, celebrated his 95th birthday with the Dunsfold Park team, family and friends.

Reg was stationed with the RAF?98 Squadron at Dunsfold between 1943 and 1944, and enjoyed a birthday cake decorated with the bomber squadron emblem to mark the occasion.

Memories of the airfield’s military years, when he serviced American B-25 Mitchell Bombers, live on, thanks to the museum of wartime memorabilia Reg opened at Dunsfold Park, back in 2003.

Birthday party guests included his son Peter and the museum’s stalwart volunteers – Terry Bachelor and Owen Warren – friends Kay and Mike Newnham, and Dunsfold Park chief executive Jamie McAllister.

Reg said: “The aerodrome is my second home and I am very pleased to have been able to come and celebrate my birthday at Dunsfold with those who have supported me since I opened my museum.

“It was a great day.”

The Reg Day Museum is open from 10am to 3pm every Wednesday by appointment.
