DOUBLE platinum singer-songwriter Newton Faulkner is set to wow the crowd as Saturday night headliner at Haslemere Fringe Festival from July 3 to July 5.

Ever since his debut No 1 album Hand Built By Robots hit the music world in 2007, Newton has been thrilling audiences with his percussive guitar-led songs that touch on everyday life, love and challenges.

Six further hit albums followed and a first greatest-hits album for this innovative artist from Reigate in Surrey.

Festival director Paul Ashton said: “We are so excited to have an artist of Newton’s quality as part of the 2020 Fringe and he will be closing on the Saturday night in stunning style.

“I’m sure his many fans in the south will want to see him playing live, outdoors on a summer night at this unique and special event.”

Other 2020 headliners include worldwide superstar Sophie Ellis-Bextor, who will close the festival on Sunday night, and Britpop favourites Sleeper, who will be the grand finale on Friday night.

More names are due to be announced for the festival, including local artists and bands.

Haslemere Fringe is supporting the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice as the official charity partner for the event. The hospice offers care for patients in west Surrey and north-east Hampshire.

Haslemere Fringe Festival is a volunteer-led event supported by local schools, youth clubs and businesses, including the Herald, BBC Surrey and Wey Valley Radio.

Held on Lion Green in the centre of Haslemere, it has a number of sound stages offering something for audiences of all ages, celebrating live music, comedy, dance, poetry and children’s activities.
