CHRISTMAS is on its way, and Phyllis Tuckwell’s Santa Fun Run is back to celebrate the festive season.
Phyllis Tuckwell will be organising one festive fun run this year, which will be held at Wavell School in Farnborough, on December 12.
It will start at 11am, and will see participants walk, jog or run two laps of Queen’s Avenue Playing Fields, which is approximately 5km in total.
Phyllis Tuckwell will also be offering a virtual version too, so you can choose the location, distance and who your fellow Santas are, anytime over the weekend of December 11 to 12.

My Working Week: Before burnout becomes crisis“We’re thrilled to be able to hold our Farnborough Santa Fun Run this year, as well as offering our virtual version of this fantastic event,” said Fiona Chapman, events fundraiser at Phyllis Tuckwell.
“After being unable to hold this event last year we are excited to be back, so please come along and help us make it the best one ever! Alternatively, you can choose your own location and distance and complete your Santa Run over the same weekend, either on your own or with friends or family.”
The Santa Fun Run is free to enter, with both Farnborough and virtual participants being asked to pledge to raise a minimum of £25 in sponsorship or as a donation. Every adult who registers will get a free Santa suit to wear, and each child who registers will receive a pair of reindeer antlers.
All of the money raised will go directly towards helping fund the supportive and end of life care which Phyllis Tuckwell provides for local patients and families living with an advanced or terminal illness, such as cancer.
Every day, including over Christmas, it supports over 250 patients, relatives and carers - in their own homes, in the community, at the Hospice in Farnham and at the Beacon Centre in Guildford - through medical and nursing care, therapies, counselling, social work advice and practical support.
However, as the NHS/Government usually only covers about 20 per cent of its costs, it has to raise over £25,000 a day to do this.
By taking part in its Santa Fun Run, you’ll be helping to make this Christmas special for families who might be spending their last festive season together.
Everyone who wants to take part, in either the Farnborough or the virtual Run, will need to register in advance, as there will be no on-the-day registration.
