A south Farnham landmark will soon be consigned to history as plans to replace a “leaky” village hall with housing have been approved.
Plans to build a pair of three-bedroom semi-detached homes on the site of Rowledge Village Hall have been rubber stamped by Waverley Borough Council.
The “flimsy” building on Long Road is in an “advanced stage of dilapidation” being more than 100 years ago, with work on a replacement hall at the Cherryfields site off Fullers Road starting just over a year ago.
And although it has an interesting frontage, the building’s heritage significance has been called “low” by officers.
A previous scheme for a single five-bedroom home was approved in July 2024, but the plans have since been revised to help meet local need for housing.

And residents have welcomed the revision, with WBC receiving eight letters in support of redevelopment and the creation of an additional home.
