A PLANNING appeal to build a two-storey side extension to a house in Lion Lane, Haslemere, following the demolition of a conservatory has been dismissed by a government planning inspector.

The planning application was turned down by Waverley Borough Council in April.

The inspector considered the proposals for the pitched roof extension which would be less than one metre from the common boundary of a neighbour’s home would be “overbearing and visually dominant” and against local planning policies which protect the amenity of occupiers of neighbouring properties.
