SURREY Police are investigating a report of an attempted kidnap of a 16 year old in Chatsworth Avenue, Haslemere, on Saturday (Dec 1).

At around 7.30pm the teenager reported that he was grabbed from behind by a slim man dressed in a black hoody and shining a torch, before he tried to push the teen into a van.

The teenager managed to get away and ran home.

Waverley Borough Commander, Inspector Gary Smith, said: “We appreciate that this incident is concerning for the local community, but we’d like to reassure residents that this is a rare occurrence.

“Our enquiries remain ongoing and we would ask people not to speculate on social media, but if you have information which you feel could assist our investigation, please call 101, quoting PR/45180128350.
