‘Quick Call The Midwife – the Baby Jesus is coming’
YEAR one pupils from Beacon Hill Primary School staged ’A Midwife in Crisis’, a traditional Nativity tale but with a twist.
Hearing the news of an imminent birth, the midwife tries to find a place for the new baby to be born – with a bit of help from some kings and some sheep.
Beacon Hill headteacher Brigid Collman said: “Featuring the youngest classes in the school, all the children had a chance to take part, with notable characters including two donkeys named Steve and Nigel, alongside the more traditional parts of Joseph, Mary and Angel Gabriel and of course, not forgetting the rather unhelpful innkeeper.
“Performances of the production were shared with family and friends and collections at the end of each show will be put towards the next project at Beacon Hill’s link school in Kenya, Nyabondo.
“This was just the start of a very busy festive season at Beacon Hill School.
Children in key stage two have just finished their Christmas production of ’Gold’ – the tale of King Midas – while the whole school took part in a traditional carol service at St Alban’s Church, Hindhead, to which family, friends and the community were invited.
“Christmas parties for each class and a traditional Christmas lunch were served in the run-up to the end of term too,” Mrs Collman added.
