HASLEMERE and District Scouts is looking for a new volunteer District Commissioner as Father Jonathan How’s temporary post is due to come to an end.
The District Commissioner will offer support to Scout Groups, manage adults, set objectives, and will be supported by an experienced team of volunteers.
Group spokesman John Stone said: “Most importantly he or she will ensure that Scouting offers an enjoyable and attractive programme for young people, helping prepare them for a bright future.
“Scouting provides access to fun and adventure for 6-25 year olds. It is able to offer low cost but highly professional activities by using well trained adult volunteers.”
Although no Scouting experience is necessary, the applicant will know how to motivate people, produce a local development plan and have the charisma to inspire the team.
Mr Stone added: “Above all, he or she will believe passionately in Scouting for All, helping Scouting grow, becoming more inclusive, more youth-shaped, and making a positive impact in local communities.
“It’s a challenging role, but the rewards are huge, improving the outcomes of thousands of young people.
“Scouting offers fun, friendship, and life changing adventure to more than 450,000 young people across the UK, but this is only made possible by teams of talented volunteers.”
The closing date for nominations is Monday, March 14. Call Fr Jonathan How on 07877 078208 or email [email protected]
