THE crackdown by Lynchmere Parish Council on speeding motorists continues, with the installation of three warning signs at the gateways to the village.
Parish councillor Peter Allen erected the signs on Camelsdale Road and Lynchmere Road with the help of the West Sussex County Council volunteer team.
The move follows the parish council’s road safety initiative in partnership with the county council and Sussex Police that saw Len Howard, Camelsdale School’s lollipop man, equipped with a body camera in May under a pilot scheme to clamp down on dangerous drivers.
Signs have been put up outside the school to warn drivers they are on camera and offenders face a possible fine and three points on their licence.
Welcoming the latest initiative, Mr Allen said: “Lynchmere Parish Council is delighted to have completed the project to install village gates in order to make roads safer in the parish for our residents, particularly the children.
“Many thanks to the West Sussex County Council volunteer team who helped to install the gates.”
