THE winner of the people’s choice vote for Waverley’s Silver Screening has been decided and residents have selected Singin’In the Rain.
The 1952 musical comedy beat off competition from Casablanca and Some Like it Hot and will be screened at the Borough Hall Cinema, in Godalming, this Sunday, October 2, at 2.30pm, as part of Waverley Borough Council’s Living Well Week.
Councillor Jenny Else, member for health at Waverley Borough Council, said: “I think lots of people are going to be very happy that this big 50s, feel-good hit will be shown.
“Viewers can sit back with a hot drink and a slice of cake to watch Gene Kelly dance his way through puddles, spinning his umbrella and perhaps even sing along with him.
“The screening is part of a week full of free and discounted activities and taster sessions designed to demonstrate the vast array of services available locally to the over 50s.”
To book go to www.waverley.gov.uk/livingwellweek or call 01483 523004 or in person at the hall, open Wednesday to Friday, 10am to 12.30pm.
