Surrey Police is appealing for information after graffiti vandals targeted the Witley area.

Over the weekend of November 25 and 26, vandals sprayed graffiti on the cricket club shed on Witley Recreation Ground, the telephone box in Petworth Road – which is used as a book exchange – and the Chichester Hall sign.

The basket swing at Sunny Hill playground was also vandalised and has a large chunk missing from the rim of the swing.

A Surrey Police spokesperson said: “These are senseless acts of vandalism affecting the whole community and will cost time and money to put right.”

Anyone with information as to who may be responsible, or if you recognise any of the graffiti tags, should contact Surrey Police quoting crime reference number 45230134782.

Data released under freedom of information laws found councils across the UK now regularly spend six-figure sums each year removing graffiti.
