AN 18-year-old woman from Petersfield was airlifted to hospital after an accident on the A3 at the weekend.

The teenage driver was hurt after her Peugeot car overturned on the southbound carriageway between the Hindhead Tunnel and Liphook services on Saturday around 9.45am.

She was flown to The Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford with suspected life-threatening injuries but was later realeased.

The southbound carriageway was closed for two hours between the Thursley and Longmoor exits after the accident, sparking long delays.
