WOBBLY and clatter bridges, balance beams and a rocking log are just some of the outdoor challenges now being enjoyed by pupils of St Mary’s Primary School at Chiddingfold.
The school celebrated the start of the academic year with the launch of its new key stage one adventure playground earlier this month. “The pupils absolutely love it and are really enjoying the new equipment,” business manager Yvette Oqvist said.
“With the continued tight educational budgets, we applied for, and were successful in gaining, a £10,000 Big Fund Lottery Grant.
“Our pareent teacher association are tireless in their fundraising efforts and donated an additional £6,000 after organising Chiddfest, a music festival which raised over £20,000 in all.
“We would like to express our sincere thanks to the PTA and to all the volunteers that worked so hard fundraising at ChiddFest and throughout the year to make this possible.
“To be able to have this new playground this year is especially important as we have taken on for the first time two reception classes, due to the oversubscription of ours and other local schools.”
