Mobile phone giant Vodaphone has approached a parish church about putting a mobile phone antennae inside its spire.

There will be a day’s testing of a temporary antenna to see if it works well enough from within the spire at St Luke’s Church is Grayshott

As the spire is wooden, it is likely to prove a good site. St Luke’s would receive a rental income in return. If Vodaphone wants to proceed with its plan, it could take about a year to obtain planning permission.

That period includes the Church of England’s own consultation process, involving its lawyers, architects, surveyors, financiers and a month long public consultation for objectors to make ther case.
