Grayshott Strikers produced an outstanding team display to beat Grayswood Harriers in their final match of the season in Group A of the I’Anson League.

The Strikers won the toss and elected to field.

After a pre-match briefing, the match got under way with captain Charlie B opening the bowling.

The wickets started to fall in the second over, thanks to some excellent bowling from Lisa.

More wickets fell in the fifth and sixth overs and two in the seventh over, with Charlie W netting a caught and bowled along the way.

The whole field worked hard to limit the runs and boundaries, and a couple of catches took the wicket haul to an impressive ten for the innings.

Grayswood Harriers finished on a net score of 272.

After a quick freezepop break to cool down, the Strikers opened their innings with batting pair Charlie B and Kate O. A few wides and a great catch kept the pair to nine.

Up next were Amy and Elly, who added six, losing one wicket.

Third pair Al and Ann-Marie added 17 to the score, with a few boundaries – which were very welcome so as not to have to run in the heat!

Next up Becca and Charlie paired up to add 14, losing two wickets.

Bringing it home, fifth pair Lisa and Louise added 38, including a four from a lovely reverse sweep – fast becoming Lisa’s trademark shot! – and a six.

The Strikers finished on a net score of 344 to win the match.

The whole team performance was outstanding, with great cricket on show – which proved all their training had paid off!

In a break from tradition, player of the match was keen supporter Eric, who kept the scoreboard up to date and did a fantastic job in retrieving the ball to help out the fielding team when it zipped over the boundary – which was really appreciated by everyone in the blazing sun.

Big thanks to Mark for umpiring and to Sophie for scoring.

With the points from this match, the Strikers finished seventh in Group A, having won two matches over the season.
