LIPHOOK & Ripsley dropped to third from bottom in the Southern Premier League Division One after losing in the final over to Hook & Newnham Basics.

Half-centuries from Ryan Covey and Grant Rouse helped Liphook to a decent total of 236-9 after being inserted at Ripsley Park.

Hook, after losing an early wicket to Suman Ganguly, conducted a well-judged run-chase, skipper Ben Thane leading the way with 67.

Liphook bowled tightly, but struggled to take wickets. Rhodes Franklin saw Basics home with just three balls to spare.

A third straight loss for Liphook who visit second-placed Calmore this week.
