THE I’Anson’s disciplinary sub-committee has issued the following statement regarding the closing stages of the Stevens Cup final played at Headley on July 16.

‘At the Stevens Cup final on July 16, the umpires referred the behaviour of the Puttenham players to the I’Anson disciplinary sub-committee (DSC) for consideration. The DSC was satisfied that the captain, Aks Ilyas, had failed to control his players as required by law and imposed a fine of £25.

This was the third occasion in the current season that umpires had submitted such a report. Under I’Anson’s totting-up procedures, the DSC met to consider whether any further action was necessary.

The DSC took note of the various actions which the club had taken, notably in expelling from membership one of its players who had been subject to two reports, and so determined that a points deduction was not warranted. Instead, the club was fined £100 and advised that any further disciplinary reports this season would leave the DSC no option but to consider a points deduction.’
